Manitou Wind Services has commenced construction on the new independent power grid for the municipality. The new wind power network will cost the community approximately MC$2,000 when completed and power all five regions with clean renewable energy.
Manitou Council announced this week the development of electrical power within the town. The community drew power from a nearby city at great expense, the new system will be wholly independent and supply only the regional municipality of Manitou regions. "The large pylon towers will only be constructed in Muskoka and part of Midland regions" said Mayor Silversmith "these are necessary to deliver the power to distribution substations that will go up across the continent." The cost will be absorbed by Manitou Tourism, including underground services, substations, wind turbines and electrical pylons.
The new system uses technology from Brunel Communications, Steam Isles and Manitou Public Utilities. The new company will have an office in the Public Utilities building located in Midland.
