"We're back!" Winter Silversmith, Editor of the Corran Journal proclaimed late yesterday. The office of the Corran Journal, and Silversmith Estates, experienced a three week internet outage. "I moved to a new location in RL and two internet installers with little field experience failed to re-connect my internet. It took almost a week to get two professionals to come in who had it hooked up in less than forty-five minutes" he said.
Silversmith Estates received two instant messages in the past week, after finally getting onto GCG with Lumiya, stating that the Manitou regions were offline. "I've heard a couple instant messages that the regions were offline but when I talked to Roddie he'd received no messages about restarting Manitou or that it was offline in the past three weeks. The strange thing is, when I logged in twice over a couple days I landed at home on Muskoka (one of six Manitou regions) with no difficulty" said Winter.
The Great Canadian Grid has experienced a couple DDoS attacks in the past month which affected first the grid and then dozens of regions as the attackers moved from server to server. "It's unfortunate, but since I provide free stores and housing no one really experienced any significant financial loss, I just figure that 'life goes on'", Winter said.
The Corran Journal is expected to resume publishing stories later this week.
