Pixel Postcard: Nowhere, Prairie Moon
RP- Upon your arrival inworld by OpenSimWorld directory or GCG landmark you will meet Marty the Moose nearby who will offer you the notecard introducing you to this quaint Canadian community. For those wanting to immerse themselves in the roleplay experience this is a great stop on your cross-grid adventure, as you travel west on Highway 5 from the town of Humboldt, Saskatchewan you will pass through the fictional hamlet of Nowhere. |
The sign for the community boasts a population of ten and it is truly one of those ‘blink and you will miss it’ places. This rural settlement includes a motel, the Prairie Moon, complete with gas station, cafe and convenience store.
The Prairie Moon Motel and Café is owned by the Melnyk family and their friend Chris Wilson is eager to serve you up a delicious local home cooked meal all day long. I stopped in, this morning, for their delicious Sunrise Special – two eggs, bacon, sweet potato hash browns and toast for under $10. Touch on the menu boards for a serving of the local cuisine. |
The characters positioned throughout the hamlet are interactive. If you touch on them they will tell you parts of a story that can take you around the room or the entire region depending on the time of year.
There are both individual and group character conversations. When there is a group conversation (for example the Christmas party at the farmhouse back in December) Anna has numbered the order of the speakers so it makes the most sense. |
The roleplay setting embodies the desolate rural feel of Saskatchewan in a great interactive play that is evolving regularly thanks to the creator Anna Wright. Anna sums it up nicely in her welcome notecard “People always talk about driving in the middle of Nowhere in Saskatchewan...so guess what? I made it!” |
