The Gathering is an informal meet and greet hosted by Winter Silversmith of Manitou, GCG. Mr. Silversmith announced that this week's Gathering will be held on Tuesday, September 26 at 6:00 pm. The original venue chosen was the Tim Hortons on GCG Welcome region, however this location has been changed to the Gathering Circle, Lawson Island, Minesing, GCG.
The Gathering get-together's have been held in three different locations in the past year. These locations include the GCG Cabin, Tim Hortons and the Archives of the Avatar. The Gatherings were started as a way to meet and greet new members in the community and share stories and ideas about anything including issues specific to the grid.
"They have been quite popular" Winter Silversmith told the Corran Journal today. "We have counted as many as two dozen avatars in attendance during some of the gatherings which have varied in length of ninety minutes to over four hours". The new venue has seating for 14 including Winter but as he noted "additional seating can be added if needed".
When asked about the reason for the sudden change in venue Winter had this to say "well, I have actually thought about relocating it to my home region in the past. Several of the members have expressed that they felt the gatherings taking place on a GCG owned region had too much of a meeting-type feeling to them. Attendees want to feel comfortable and laid back and welcome to speak their minds about any subject including grid issues".
The Great Canadian Grid has maintained an open-door policy to both compliments and complaints about their service. The Gatherings were not created to be a place to complain about the grid. "They are a get-together between old and new friends. We are all neighbours here in this expansive community and it is great to gather together to just chat about whatever" Winter said.
The Gathering will be held at 6:00 pm GCG time on Tuesday. The Landmark for the event is posted in the notices on GCG Events, The Gathering and Eternity Isle groups as of Sunday night. Everyone including Hypergrid visitors are welcome to attend.
