Welcome to the new Corran Journal as we wait patiently for the Great Canadian Grid to come back online. Past articles posted in the Corran Journal are available under the CJ ARTICLES menu located in the top right of this page.
The Great Canadian Grid has been offline since August 31, 2017 performing backups on their data. They will hopefully be back online within the next two weeks depending on what Hurricane Irma does to Florida (home of the servers for the GCG).
Shortly before the grid went offline we began construction of the new Manitou regions. In spring of 2018 four of the regions will be cancelled, Meaford, Massey, Minesing, and Mud River due to financial constraints. This left Manitou, Midland, Muskoka and Mattawa Bay to be the new Manitou.
I decided to completely re-terraform the entire town and scale it back from the city it had become into what you might call a "rural" community. Assuming nothing bad has happened in the interim, the regions have adopted a peninsula design with a single highway running up along the shoreline connecting all four regions. The regions that will be cancelled have been converted into lake (water) with a sprinkling of islands to make it easier to delete them next year.
There will be shops and services along the highway and up to ten homes scattered throughout the four regions. While many of them will be roleplay in design I have invited three of our previous merchants to set-up in the new town - Anna Wright (Chinook), Toaster Dementos (Independents), Couture Chapeau.
The roleplay portion of the community includes a gas station with convenience store, Chinese food restaurant, Police station, a small boat launch with dock, and possibly one or two other businesses. The residential units will be 'tiny/miniature homes' and eight former residents have been selected to move to the new town if they so desire.
The website will be completely remodelled once I am able to get inworld and take photos. The history and the city design are gone, the new Town of Manitou is a humble community of approximately twenty-five to thirty avatar and role-play residents. It is so small they do not even have their own fire station because they can not afford a truck. Community services such as these are provided by a roleplay community down the highway to the south.
Once the grid is back online it will take approximately a week to complete all of the changes to Manitou. Thank you for your patience.
