The Judge Advocate General of the Manitou Armed Forces has opened new law offices in downtown Manitou. The building has been constructed on the former site of the Elk Bones Tavern that was destroyed by fire earlier this week. The new JAG offices are the legal department representing naval, ground and air members in our armed services.
The Manitou Armed Services Naval division have submitted a proposal for the construction of a naval yard if and when land becomes available. The construction calls for a marina, docks, warehouses and housing for personnel. The project is expected to take a week to complete at a cost of 10,000 prims and MC$5,000. "Unfortunately there is not enough land available at the present time to construct this new base which would bring much needed tax revenue into the community" said Lieutenant Colonel Anthony Alberta of the Manitou Armed Services. The military, in a joint effort with Emergency Services, Police, Fire and Manitou Tourism constructed the Emergency Operations Centre in Midland earlier this summer. "When the project has been approved will be constructing an air strip near the Emergency Operations Centre for military aircraft visiting from other regions" he said.
