"The purpose of human life is to serve, and to show compassion and the will to help others." ~Albert Schweitzer
That is so very true when it comes to the hearts of Great Canadian Grid members. A few days ago, before the DDoS attack I had made a personal appeal for matching donations in my Canadian Red Cross Alberta Fire Appeal campaign. I offered to donate $100 Canadian plus whatever members donated in $Maples up to an additional $100 Canadian. The final donation could be as much as $200 Canadian. Even with the grid being down for a day members not only matched but passed the goal of MC$ 17,800 by donating a total of $MC 22,100 by Monday afternoon.
So, when my account permits, here is what I am going to do. I will donate $200 Canadian, as promised, PLUS $25 Canadian (the over-the-goal amount received). When I do, and they send me a receipt, I will post it here for everyone to see.
You did it GCG'ers! You raised the equivalent of MC$ 40,050* ($225cdn) for the Canadian Red Cross Alberta Fires Appeal campaign.
And now, as promised, in no particular order, the list of contributors to this first leg of the campaign:
It brought a tear to my eye when I checked my balance this evening. I would say "I couldn't believe it" but to be quite honest - I did. It just proves what I have been saying all along. The people of the GCG are a good people, caring neighbours who do their best to help. You are all honourary Canadians in my book!
