Lieutenant Colonel Anthony Alberta announced today that CFB Manitou will be closing this month. The closure comes after the recent development of local police services in the city. "We are no longer needed in regards to community safety and security" said Mr. Alberta "the land and services will be sold to the city to allow further expansion and development of the department of public safety and the fire rescue services".
The staff working on the base are military personnel and will be re-assigned to other bases through the OpenSim metaverse. "Those staff who were non-military are being offered new positions with the local services" said Mylo Veofbuck Manitou Economic Planning Department Manager "no one will be left without a job from this transition".
The military will pull out of the region this week. "We will need to perform some renovations to the parcel before the final changes, a couple roads need to be constructed to open up the yard to the street" said Mr. Veofbuck.
