"Domestic air travel in Manitou was grounded tonight for ten minutes following the report of unusual traffic on MATC radar" said Paul Skies of Manitou Air Traffic Control. "A craft of unknown registry was detected hovering above the Massey district for several minutes. It disappeared before Manitou Armed Services could reach the scene" he said. Domestic air travel resumed shortly after 8 o'clock this evening.
"We can only confirm that we were alerted by Air Traffic Control to an anomoly detected in the skies over Manitou. We dispatched an F-14 to investigate but no aircraft could be located" said Lieutenant Colonel Anthony Alberta of Manitou Armed Services. Manitou Armed Services remains on Yellow Alert at this hour.
A security camera at the Midland Park Solarium detected a bright light in a field located in south-west Massey district just north of the Manitou Market Mall. The source of the light remains unidentified. This is the third incident of an unidentified flying object reported over Massey in the past year.
A commercial cargo flight arriving from GCG Stores was diverted to another airfield off region during the incident. It has since taken off from the alternate site and landed in Midland.
