Lloydminster Abbey, built in 1874, is under threat of closure following the death of Abbot Alexander earlier this autumn. The Abbey, located at 3 Teasag Trail, has been spared from development only because of its historical significance and active use as a refuge for those wanting relief from the perils of everyday life for a while.
"While the building and grounds will remain intact the Regional Municipality of Manitou will buy the parcel and covert the Abbey into a residential home." Manitou Tourism CAO Winter Silversmith said Wednesday evening. The Abbey received historical designation this summer, whoever moves in will not be permitted to change the structure or the grounds. "The cemetery will be moved to another location before we rent out the building" Winter said.
Anyone interested in living in the Abbey should contact Winter Silversmith inworld, as with all other rentals you are not permitted to have a home or region anywhere else in GCG when you rent from Manitou.
